Inclusion Statement
Engaines Inclusion Statement
At Engaines, we are committed to creating a learning environment where every child feels valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. We believe that inclusion is the foundation of a successful and nurturing school community.
Our approach to inclusion is guided by the Essex Ordinarily Available (OA) Provision, which sets clear expectations for high quality, inclusive teaching and the universal support that should be available to all pupils in every Essex early years and mainstream setting. This includes adaptive teaching, structured routines, supportive environments, and the effective use of strategies that reduce barriers to learning for all pupils, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We also align closely with the Essex Education Inclusion Strategy, which sets out a county-wide vision for a fully inclusive education system. This strategy champions ambition, equity, and inclusion for all learners, promotes early intervention and proactive support, and embeds the principle of “Lives Without Labels” ensuring every child is recognised first for their strengths and individuality rather than their needs. It highlights the importance of positive relationships, wellbeing, high attendance, full participation, and equitable access to a high quality curriculum so that all children can thrive. As a school, we are committed to:
- Providing high quality, inclusive teaching as the first response to all pupils’ needs, in line with the Essex OA Inclusive Teaching Framework.
- Building a culture where belonging, respect, and diversity are celebrated and where every child feels safe, understood, and supported.
- Ensuring early identification and early intervention so that support is timely, appropriate, and effective.
- Working proactively with families, external partners, and the wider community to deliver the best outcomes for children.
- Embedding the principles of the Essex Inclusion Strategy across all areas of school life—from classroom practice to leadership decision-making.
Together, these commitments ensure that inclusion is not a single action, but a whole school ethos. We strive for a community where every child can participate fully, feel confident in their learning, and experience success.
