Otter class - Reception/Year 1 - Mrs Nunn

Otter class has settled in really well, with lots of new friendships formed and skills developing.

Our regular PE sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays for the reception children and Monday and Thursday for the year 1 children. We have woodland school sessions on Fridays and these are proving very popular.
We are learning about the Queen this half term, so our roleplay area is set as Windsor Castle. It is filled with jewels, crowns, cloaks and thrones.
We thought about how old the Queen is and compared her to ourselves. We looked at our baby pictures to see how much we had changed in four or five years.
We have been doing lots of matching and sorting in maths - even finding pairs of stinky socks!
We continue to practice recognising and writing our names.

We are reading the 'That's Not My ...' book series and are starting to think of our own Wow! words to describe dragons and unicorns, just like the books do.

Meerkats & Otters Class Meet the Essex County Fire & Rescue Service

The children in reception have had a very exciting time. Clacton Fire service came to visit us and spoke to the children about fire safety and about their jobs as fire fighters. The children even got to try out the fire hoses.

Photos and videos of the children will be posted on Tapestry.
