What is the PTA?
We are a group of parents and staff, who all give our time on a voluntary basis to organise and run fundraising (and hopefully fun!) activities for those in our school community.
Our aim is to use the funds we raise to provide ‘extras’ for the school, as well as working on more major projects to enhance the school environment eg at the moment we are raising funds to improve our quiet area on the playground; we raised money to build our Reading Hut and provide it with electricity. In addition, the school gives us a ‘wish list’ of items they feel would be of benefit.
Our main fundraisers of the year are the Summer Fete and Christmas Fairs – this year the fete is on 24th June and the Fieworks are on Friday 3rd November. Other events through the year can include discos and the ever-popular cake sales. If you have ideas for any other events, please speak to your Parent Forum rep or come along to our next meeting.
We always collect supermarket vouchers, such as those from Sainsbury’s Active Kids, Tesco Schools and Clubs and Morrisons Let’s Grow (and tokens like Nestle Box Tops for Books from cereal packets, too!). The school uses vouchers like these to buy new equipment for the playgrounds at lunchtime and for gardening.
If you would like to find out more about what we do, become involved in the PTA either as a volunteer at events or even as Chair, you’re welcome to come along to one of the PTA meetings (ask the school office staff when this is). It’s a great way to be part of school life!
Our PTA Chair is Cheryl Harris, Vice Chair is Emma Wright, the PTA Secretary is Caroline Hyde, and the PTA Treasurers are Wendy Jones and Kelly Cantrell.
