Achieving great things together

Our School Day

Our School Day
Our school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm. Registration is from 8.45am to 9.00am, although we do encourage our children to be in school ready to start early morning work from 8.45am.
Morning playtimes
In Key Stage 1 children have a morning break from 10.30 – 10.45 ; children in Key Stage 2, from 11.00 – 11.15.
Lunch
In Foundation Stage the children begin lunch at 11.45 and finish lunch at 12.45. Lunches for the rest of the children are staggered, but all children have a one hour lunch break.
Afternoon playtimes:
Younger children have an afternoon playtime, at the discretion of the class teacher .
Drop-off and collection
At the beginning and end of the school day, parents enter the playground, to drop off and pick-up their children. Children come straight into class to start their learning: there is a member of staff on all entry doors, to deal with any concerns and take messages. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school: we want to have good links with all parents. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset.
Getting to school
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park wisely.
Assemblies
Whole school Assemblies take place on Monday and Wednesday, with our Achievement Assembly on a Tuesday at 2.45. Assemblies on Wednesdays are for special visitors: on Thursdays and Fridays assemblies take place in class or phase.
Our Achievement Assemblies are a wonderful opportunity to share with our families how proud we are of our childrens’ achievements. Parents and carers will be invited to Achievement Assemblies by letter.
